Alternative Energy Sources
India, China, Korea, Mexico and other emerging countries are becoming
the World's leading manufacturing nations. This has led to a demand for
resources to sustain production. Commodity prices have risen fast
during the past few years with copper, zinc and oil leading the way.
Forecasts predict that there will be strong demand for energy for
several decades. Experts now admit that alternative energy sources
such as Bio-diesel and ethanol are inefficient and costly to
produce.
Furthermore it has not been widely reported that
two thirds of the worlds oil is still 'in place' in the ground waiting
to be recovered. Due to economic factors it has previously been
un-viable to recover the majority of oil from oil field discoveries.
Crude
Oil is one of the world's most widely used raw materials. Forty percent of world's primary basic material consumption
is covered by Crude Oil, which is used to produce plastics, drugs, paint, fertilizers and detergents.
Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)
With oil prices set to remain around €80 per barrel, Specialist Enhanced Oil Recovery companies have emerged offering new methods to
extract oil from otherwise depleted oil fields. These companies are likely to become major players in the world energy market and demand for their
services are growing.
With
today’s standard oil recovery methods only 30% of the Original Oil in
Place (OOiP) of an oil field can be recovered. Some EOR companies possessing advanced technology
can potentially recover up to 72% of the OOiP.
AMP & Partners Ltd have developed close working
relationships with companies involved in this sector over a number
of years. This includes specialist banks, private equity, asset managers
and EOR Companies.
